Is it normal tiredness?

Early intervention

The stages of fatigue

Long-term fatigue rarely appears overnight. It tends to move from tiredness that recovers, to running on empty, to crashes after effort.

1
Tired
Recovers with rest and a good night's sleep
2
Running on empty
Needs weekends to recover from the week
3
Persistent
Most days; brain fog and unrefreshing sleep
4
Crashing
Payback after effort; pain and poor sleep
5
Diagnosed condition
e.g. ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, long COVID
6
Severe
Mostly housebound; daily life heavily limited
Stages 1–4 · The window where early care makes the most difference
Stages 5–6 · Requiring a full diagnostic work-up with specialist labs and in-depth care

Stages 1–4 · The early intervention window

Stage 1

Tired

Tiredness after busy periods that recovers with rest and a good night's sleep.

Our focus: Spotting what drains you and protecting sleep and recovery.

Stage 2

Running on empty

Getting through the week, then needing the weekend to recover.

Our focus: The Brain Performance Analysis and a history to map the pattern early.

Stage 3

Persistent

Fatigue most days, with brain fog and sleep that doesn't refresh.

Our focus: Targeted lab testing to find the drivers, then a personalised plan.

Stage 4

Crashing

Payback after effort, with pain, poor sleep and a shrinking day.

Our focus: A paced, whole-system programme covering sleep, blood sugar, hormones, inflammation and stress.

The window for change is early

The earlier the drivers are found, the simpler they usually are to correct, and the less your life has to shrink around your energy.

Stages 5–6 · Full diagnostic work-up and in-depth care

Stage 5

Diagnosed condition

Conditions such as ME/CFS, fibromyalgia or long COVID, requiring a full diagnostic work-up with specialist labs and in-depth care.

Stage 6

Severe

Mostly housebound, with daily life heavily limited. Care is gentle, paced and often online, alongside your medical team.

These stages are an illustrative guide to how fatigue often progresses, not a clinical scale or a prediction. If you have any urgent symptoms, see your GP promptly or call 999.
